Welcome to Emotional Growth Counseling! My name is Shelby Zurick Beasley and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I’ve been working with adolescents, adults and families in the St. Louis area for 8 years in both a community mental health center and college counseling center setting. I particularly enjoy working with teens and young adults. I have extensive experience in working with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation and self-harm behaviors, emotion dysregulation, grief, suicide bereavement, interpersonal relationship issues, identity development, life transitions and self-esteem. I utilize a flexible, collaborative approach to working with clients and draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Strengths-Based Therapy. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment for clients to explore their challenges and I emphasize compassion, authenticity and humor in my work.
Outside of my therapist role, I am a St. Louis transplant who came to the area for college and decided this is home. I am an avid baker and love trying new recipes to learn new skills. I enjoy spending time outdoors and have a life goal to visit all of the U.S. National Parks. If I hadn’t found my calling as a counselor, I would be a travel agent or a florist.
I consider it a privilege to work with people during their most difficult moments and witness their growth as they face life’s challenges. I hope to help my clients feel empowered in their ability to build a life worth living. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to read my page and would look forward to talking with you in the future!
